Obituary for Ewing C. Bashor

Bashor
Ewing C.

On Wednesday morning October 3, 2018 at 4:50 am, Ewing C. Bashor went home to be with the Lord. Born on the Gibson Farm in Curry Pennsylvania on August 26, 1921, Skip, as we called him, enjoyed a wonderful full life of 97 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Anna J. Bashor; his father, Charles P. Bashor; his wife, Sally E. Bashor; and his brother, David M. Bashor. He is survived by his sister, Eris G. Bashor; and multiple nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Skip served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and then graduated from the Law School at the University of Pittsburgh. Afterwards, he served as a Public Defender, an Assistant District Attorney, and then worked as an attorney at McCann Garland Ridall & Burke Law Firm in Pittsburgh, PA until he retired at the age of 85. In 2018 he was inducted to “The Golden Gavel” club at Pitt. Skip was a very competitive athlete, and played on the famous Harmarville Hurricanes Soccer Club, during the time that they played for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Championship four times, winning in both 1952 and 1956. He loved to play golf and actually shot a round of par golf in his 80’s. Skip was one of the original residents of The Penn Towers in Monroeville, PA, where he lived contiguously for 49 years from 1967-2016. Skip frequented a circuit of local pubs where he regularly attended Happy Hours and ate his dinner, they included: The Penn Monroe; the James Street Tavern; The Lighthouse/Hurricane; Eddie’s; and Johnny’s. In his most recent years, he loved to go to Carnivore's in Oakmont, which was very close to where he stayed. After the death of his wife, he had several lady companions he often enjoyed spending time with. All were special to him, but among them, Judy Utt was a priceless friend, who over the last years of his life provided him with loving care and assistance to our family, for which we will ever be indebted. In his last years, he enjoyed living at the Concordia of Fox Chapel, which was just a few miles from where he had played soccer in Hamarville. There will be no services held, but he will be interned with his wife at Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills, PA. Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
