Obituary for Thomas (Tommy) Valco

Age 65, Pittsburgh (formerly of Duquesne), after a long battle with illness, Tom passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 5, 2018. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Joanne (Smith) Valco; loving brother of the late Eugene and (Kathleen) Valco, Susan (Boyd) Anastas, and Morris (Anne) Demsko; son of the late Andrew and Susan Valco. Tommy was a great brother-in-law and will be sadly missed by Jaqueline (Jeffrey) Jurcevich. Tom also leaves behind his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, students, and many dear friends. Tom was a man who deeply loved his family, nature and wildlife; especially his assortment of pets. Tom was a Pittsburgh Public School science teacher and he remained in contact with many of his students. Words can never describe the impact he had on so many lives. Quote from student "He didn't just teach us about science, he taught us about life and how to be a role model man". He loved to spend time at the beach, reading, and was an avid photographer. He was a kind man who lived fully each day and died as he lived, on his own terms. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to honor Tom to the Outer Banks Preservation Association or Merlins Safe Haven Cat Rescue. Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
